Our final release of 2015 (JKTN008) is a limited edition cassette from Oakland-based, odi me.
odi me's album is simply titled "~" and spans 60 minutes across 6 tracks. It's at times a challenging listen, as well as a rewarding and beautiful meditation on noise, resonance, feedback, and silence. Using only a few instruments and machines to achieve her sound, the album features submerged drum machines, acoustic bass, Oakland field recordings, and feedback captured through manipulating 1/8th inch wires and coils.
From Machine Funk Savantage:
"The final Jacktone Records release of 2015 comes from odi me and it's a pretty special one. Simply titled "~", it spans 60 minutes of ambient soundscapes, droney & industrial noise and lots of distortion across only six tracks. It's at times a challenging but overall a rewarding listen if you're in the right mood with an open mind. I'd also imagine it would sound incredible as part of a live set.
The track "Bent Up" is maybe the most accessible due to its fairly straight drum rhythm. There's lots going on to keep it very interesting though, such as the vocal samples and the building distortion. Incredibly atmospheric stuff! If you're into more leftfield electronica, don't miss this release."
From Aquarius Records, SF:
"Long alien-ish instrumentals constructed from cinematic interplanetary drones, dark new-agey soundscapes and hazy field recordings of crowds and static, that occasionally unfurl in deep techno pulses, but take their time building up from slow drawn out throbbing textural bursts. Meditative and yet rather menacing as well."
